Education

I am a biologist, educator, and master's student in Science Education at the University of São Paulo (USP). I work at Instituto Canoa, supporting the professional development of Science and Mathematics teachers in a network of 28 higher education institutions across Brazil. I have a passionate commitment to education and research, striving to integrate different fields of knowledge in my studies and academic practices, such as Education, Environmental Education, and Decoloniality.

I started my professional career as a teacher at a Gymnasium, which was a solid basis for a 30-year career as a professor of philosophy.

Natalia is currently a Master's student in the International Education Policy Analysis program at Stanford University and a Researcher Assistant at the same institution. Her primary research focuses on Sex Education, Public Policies, and Curriculum. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Oceanography from the University of São Paulo and a Bachelor's degree in Pedagogy from Instituto Singularidades. She has been working in the field of education since 2009, and she is a co-founder of a preparatory course for entrance exams for low-income people in São Paulo, Brazil.

Gabriel started his Ph.D. in the Economics of Education program at Stanford GSE. He holds an MSc in Economics from Fundação Getúlio Vargas - Escola de Economia de São Paulo (FGV-EESP) and a BA in Economics from Universidade de São Paulo (USP). In his Master's thesis, he evaluated the impact of a fee waiver policy for students from public schools in their final year. His interest is in quantitative methods to evaluate public policies, focusing on education, inequality, and higher education.

Before joining the Lemann Center at Stanford, Ligia Battagello Eloy was Project Manager at Ayrton Senna Institute, where she implemented the governance process for the Education Team, acted as a portfolio manager and conducted the strategic planning process and team allocation management. Prior to that, she supported and implemented the fundraising strategy, managing donors accounts.

Cecilia Machado is an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Economics of Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV EPGE). She received her PhD degree at Columbia in 2010. Her areas of interest include labor economics, econometrics and applied microeconomics. Cecilia has done research on program evaluations and estimation of treatment effects, and on gender differences in the labor market, and family formation and dissolution.

Full professor at the Federal University of Ceara and creator and Coordinator of the following programs: PRECE - Cooperative Cell Education Program (1998), PACCE - Cooperative Learning Program in Student Cells (2009 – 2014); Program to Stimulate Cooperation in the Public Schools (2016 – 2019).

Vitor holds a PhD, MA and BA in Economics from PUC-Rio (2016), with split-site (sandwich) PhD at Stanford University. He has worked as director of evaluation at the Brazilian Ministry of Social Development (MDS) ,and has been working in several impact evaluations in the fields of education and social protection, spanning topics such as early childhood development, anti-dropout strategies for the youth, cash transfers and rural graduation programs.
