Karine Votikoske Roncete

Karine earned her PhD in Education from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP-Brazil). She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and a Master's degree in Education from the same university. Before pursuing her PhD, Karine worked as a teacher in primary education in Brazil. Currently, Karine is a member of the Educational Assessment Center (NAVE/UFOP) and works as an educational consultant in the areas of assessment, curriculum, textbooks and support materials.

Ariane Faria dos Santos

I am a Ph.D. student at the University of British Columbia’s Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy. My research interests include math classroom practice and curriculum implementation to improve opportunities to learn for students with different backgrounds. During my Ph.D. program, I am particularly interested to understand how British Columbia math teachers make decisions in the specific context of their classroom practices.

Luís Armando Gandin

Luís Armando Gandin holds a degree in Social Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1987), a Masters in Sociology from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1993) and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (2002). He is Professor of Sociology of Education at the School of Education and the Graduate Program of Education of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Editor-in-Chief of the journal of Educação & Realidade and Editor and founder of the journal Currículo sem Fronteiras.

Paula Louzano

Paula Louzano is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of São Paulo School of Education. She holds a MA in International Comparative Education from Stanford University and a doctoral degree in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard University. Her research interests include equality of educational opportunities, and design, implementation and evaluation of educational policies in Brazil and Latin America.
