I hold a PhD in Language Studies from the State University of São Paulo (2010), a Master´s degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Campinas (2005) and a a Bachelor´s degree in English Language from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (2002). I carried out postdoctoral studies in the Department of Applied Linguistics, University of Campinas, from 2014 to 2015; postdoctoral studies in Institute of Applied Linguistics and Language Studies, Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, from 2018 to 2019; postdoctoral studies in Linguistics in the Language Institute, Federal University of Santa Catarina, from 2019-2020; postdoctoral studies in Applied Linguistics in College of the Liberal Arts, The Pennsylvania State University, USA, from 2020-2021. I am currently pursuing post-doctoral studies at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil; in Language Didactics at the University of Geneva/Switzerland; and in Multilingual Education and Literacy at the University of Witwatersand, South Africa. I was a Visiting Scholar at Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, The Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pennsylvania, USA (2019-2020), by Fulbright. In 2020, I was approved as in the position of Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the Advanced Research Collaborative o the Graduate Center, the City University of New York, USA. In 2022, I was approved as in the position of Visiting Scholar at Stanford University and Visiting Professor of Portuguese and Brazilian Culture at Middlebury College/USA. I am currently working at the University of Brasília, Brazil, tenure-track position as Associate Professor and Researcher in the Department of Linguistics of the Institute of Language Studies. My main field of interest is in the broad area of language, decoloniality, culture and teacher education, which also includes indigeneity, gender, race and linguistic education; race and coloniality, language, discourse and identity practices; (multi)literacy and critical education of language teachers; critical theories and pedagogies and decolonial practices in the production of knowledge in Brazil and/or Latin American Education/Global South(s). I presently coordinate the CNPq - certified research “Group of Critical and Advanced Language Studies” and take part in the National Literacies Research Project (University of São Paulo, Brazil) and Language Teacher Education in the South America (University of Brasília, Brazil) and African Studies (Penn State University, USA), whose research interests connect with studies on language, culture, education, and technology. I presently coordinate the Directorate of Languages, Human Rights and Diversities of the Foundation of Scientific and Technological Enterprises of the University of Brasilia, Brazil, whose research interests connect with language, human rights, marginalized minorities, diversities and tecnologies, in a critical and decolonial perspective. I am an official member of the Technical-Pedagogical Advisory Committee in Languages and Codes and their Technologies of the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira-INEP/ Ministry of Education/Brazil from January 2023 and I submitted my application, which was approved for the Olavo Setubal Chair of Art, Culture and Science - Conceição Evaristo – financed by Itaú Social and the São Paulo State Research Support Foundation, at the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
