Next week, the Lemann Center will have a research panel at the Brazilian Association of Educational Evaluation Conference, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The panel will have four presentations. Professor and Lemann Director Eric Bettinger co-author the first research. His research analyzes a large-scale field experiment with ninth-graders in Brazil, which randomly assign parents to receives text messages with weekly data on their child’s attendance and school effort. Second, Leonardo Rosa will present his research about high school subsidies and effects on student school choice decisions. Third, Bárbara Born will present her study that investigates the current knowledge and practices of professional development facilitators from a large Department of Education in Brazil. Finally, Ana Trindade Ribeiro will present her study that analyzes the impact of an affirmative action policy in higher education implemented in Brazil in 2002 on post-college outcomes.
