Luana Marotta is an Education Senior Associate at the IDB’s Education Division. She currently leads the education projects in Ecuador and Bolivia. Her work has been mostly focused on issues affecting the teacher labor force, including recruitment, hiring, and preparation, as well as teachers’ effects on student outcomes. Prior to joining the IDB, Luana has lectured at the George Washington University and has worked at the Stanford Lemann Center, the Canadian Research Institute of Social Policy, the Learning Bar, and the Group of Educational Evaluation and Measurement with a wide array of education projects, including research on educational measurement, social stratification and educational inequalities, and impact evaluation of education policies. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology of Education and International Education from Stanford University, a M.A. degree in International Education from Stanford University, and a M.A. degree in Sociology from the University of New Brunswick.
