Professor Rita Potyguara
Indigenous of the Potiguara Community from Ceará. Pedagogue (UECE), specialist in School Management (UECE), Master in Education (UFRN), and Doctor in Education (UFRN). Post-Doctorate in the Postdoctoral Studies Program (PEP) at the National University of Tres de Febrero/Argentina (UNTREF/AR). Professor at the Secretariat of Education of Ceará. Currently, she is the director of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso BR) and coordinator of the Program for Indigenous Peoples, Black Populations, and Traditional Communities. She was Ombudsperson of the State Council of Education of Ceará from 2019 to 2022; Councilor of the National Council of Education, with a term from 2010 to 2016. She held the position of General Coordinator of Indigenous School Education from 2012 to 2015 and Director of Policies for Rural, Indigenous, and Ethnic-Racial Relations Education from 2015 to 2019 at the Ministry of Education. She has teaching experience in basic and higher education. She is a researcher, linked to research groups, editorial boards, and has published articles in book chapters, journals, and specialized magazines. She has worked in the following areas of investigation and advising: ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity; equity in education; education for ethnic-racial relations; early childhood; indigenous school education; curriculum; teacher training; educational policies; social, ethnic, and racial inequalities; cultural policies; social movements; human rights, with an emphasis on indigenous issues.
