Jose Valente, about the “Knowledge construction with computing in the digital age”:
“Technology is part of our everyday life and it has changed the way we do things and the way we think about things. It is more than a tool. It has become a language that we think with. However, we are so used to rely on technology that we are not thinking about the implications of its use. The awareness of this process should be part of the formal K-12 education, although the idea is not to merely teach about it, but construct this knowledge in the process of using technology as part of the curricular activities. In this talk, we are going to show how we can develop math concepts using programming, and discuss how this process can be extended to other areas such as maker activities.
