Stanford MA candidate João Paulo Fernandes Cossi presents a study about the Impacts of Public Infant Daycare on Future Test Scores in São Paulo, Brazil. Investments in early childhood education have shown to have the highest rate of return for developing countries. One of the arguments for that is that children, at this stage, learn more rapidly, and those acquired abilities increase future students’ productivity and, consequently, their countries’ productivity. São Paulo city has recently increased the number of seats available for early childhood education, including daycare. The purpose of this study is to test whether public daycare has significant impact on students’ future test score.
