Teacher Training for Vocational Education
The training of vocational teachers has been a much-debated and necessary topic in the context of Brazilian education. Historically, initiatives aimed at the training of teachers for vocational education have been scarce and discontinuous. This issue is particularly significant when it comes to the performance in vocational high school courses.
To address these challenges, including teacher professionalization and professional development, this meeting aims to provide a historical overview of the needs for this type of education, identify the competencies necessary for vocational education teachers in terms of knowledge, practice, and professional engagement, and explore key questions such as: What are the characteristics of a vocational education teacher? Are there specificities in the preparation of vocational education teachers? How do vocational education teachers develop their teaching knowledge? What knowledge and skills are essential for teachers in their professional practice, given the unique characteristics of high school education?
