Data Science in Education: Critical Data Literacy and Citizenship in a Dynamic Post-Truth Era

Data literacy is a challenge beyond common sense. It requires access to the mechanisms that constitute the production of data, and their purposes, interests, doubts and uncertainties. In addition, there is a context in which the production of such data is increasingly faster, requiring more material and energy resources to preserve and communicate them. This fosters the debate of educators and students within the significant advances in digital technologies, which make society more susceptible to privacy, inclusion or representativeness of minority groups. In this presentation, Professor Karla Esquerre will talk about the Data Science in Public Education Program which she leads in Salvador city, Brazil.
