Pedro Dantas holds a degree in History from the Federal University of Pernambuco. In Recife, he was one of the co-founders of SomosProfessores.org, a crowdfunding platform for public school teachers. At Stanford, he is involved in two research projects: the first is an investigation of the dynamics of decentralization and recentralization of primary education in Brazil after the FUNDEB reform, and the second is an impact evaluation of extended schools days in the state of Pernambuco.
