André Vieira is a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ-Brazil). Previously he earned a bachelor degree in Sociology at the University of Brasília (UnB-Brazil), a M.A. degree in Sociology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG-Brazil). Before coming to Stanford, André worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea-Brazil), where he worked on a number of projects including IpeaData, Civil Society Organizations Map and Atlas of Violence. Currently, he is a member of the Laboratory of Research in Higher Education (LAPES/UFRJ) and Center for the Study of Wealth and Social Stratification (CERES/IESP/UERJ). André's current research interests include social inequality and stratification, stratification in higher education, and school-to-work transitions.
