Educational policy

Sara Vitral Rezende is an International Education and Policy Analysis Master Student at Stanford Graduate School of Education, and holds a BA in Public Administration from Fundação João Pinheiro, Brazil. As a public servant at Minas Gerais State Department of Education, she has led educational policies regarding human rights and conflicts at school, youth, juvenile detention, ethnical-racial relations, health, and environmental education.

She was born in 1936 in Maracangalha, a small agricultural city in the Northeastern State of Bahia, Brazil. Her father was a railroad employee and her mother worked for the local post office. She came from a family of 8 brothers and sisters.

Luís Armando Gandin holds a degree in Social Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1987), a Masters in Sociology from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1993) and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (2002). He is Professor of Sociology of Education at the School of Education and the Graduate Program of Education of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Editor-in-Chief of the journal of Educação & Realidade and Editor and founder of the journal Currículo sem Fronteiras.

Felipe Michel Braga has an MA in International Educational Administration and Policy Analysis (Stanford), a degree in Public Administration (Joao Pinheiro Foundation), and a degree in Economics (Federal University of Minas Gerais). He is a civil servant, member of the career of Experts in Public Policies and Government Management in Minas Gerais, where he worked at the Planning and Management Secretariat (State for Results Program), at the Office of Strategic Priorities, and at the State Department of Education.

Nina is a doctoral student in the Economics of Education and Educational Policy programs at Stanford University. She holds a Master's degree in Economics (MA) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG - Brazil), and a Bachelor's degree (BA) from the São Paulo School of Economics (EESP). Most recently, she worked as a consultant at the World Bank, in Latin America and the Caribbean region, and at Mgov, a mobile platform for policy design and impact evaluation. Nina studies the economics of education, with a particular interest in teacher quality and parental engagement.
