Luciano Meira is co-founder and chief of science and innovation at Joy Education, edtech from Grupo Proz Educação, professor of psychology at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), and researcher in the field of learning sciences. Luciano has been a Lemann Fellow since 2017, when he was invited as a visiting professor at Stanford University's Faculty of Education through the Lemann Center for Entrepreneurship and Educational Innovation in Brazil. In addition, he serves as a member of the boards of BETT Brasil and the Porvir portal, and he is also an associated member with the Todos pela Educação movement.
Author of more than 200 texts in scientific journals or opinion articles, he has supervised around 100 doctoral theses and master's dissertations, and is co-editor of the book “Playfulness, Digital Games and Gamification in Learning” with Paulo Blikstein.

Luciano Meira has a bachelor's degree in pedagogy (1985, FAFIRE); Master in cognitive psychology (1987, UFPE); Ph.D in mathematics education (1991, UC Berkeley)

Born in 1962 in Cajazeiras, state of Paraíba, Brazil, he is married to Marina Pinheiro and father of Mayra, Júlia and Antônio.
