Iona holds a M.A. in Policy, Organization, and Leadership in Education - POLS '14, focused on Higher Education and online learning. At Stanford, Iona served different roles as qualitative researcher, partnerships and project manager. Before coming to Stanford, Iona worked for five years in the private sector as an entrepreneur and for four years at the public sector as an advisor for the governor of Rio de Janeiro, increasing and managing public-private partnerships. Iona holds a B.A in Psychology (PUC- Rio), M.S in Mental Health (UFRJ), and MBA (FGV). Granted with the Start-Ed Lab Award '14 for entrepreneurship in education technology by the Lemann Foundation, Iona uses interdisciplinary background, creativity, and risk-taking to foster innovation in education. After Stanford, Iona joined a Bay Area education technology startup in international expansion and brought its solution to Brazil. Her work reaches LatAm and Europe, with a TAM of 70million students. Iona is especially interested in tools to address social inequalities and to narrow the gap between race, gender, and income in education, both in K-12 and in higher education.
